Dan Heng is a free 4-star character in Honkai: Star Rail, but he is a powerful DPS when he has the right light cones.

Dan Heng is part of the Astral Express, so he is one of the first people players meet when they start playing Honkai: Star Rail. He is given to players for free to help them get through the early tasks. But he is more useful and useful than just a figure who helps in the early game.

Some players may find him harder to play than other Hunt characters because he depends on team utility and has the ability to do more damage. However, if players can find the right balance, he can do well as a main DPS or sub-DPS in a wide range of content. In Honkai: Star Rail, players can use a range of light cones, some of which are free and some of which cost money.

Swordplay

Swordplay
  • Base ATK (LVL 80): 476
  • Base DEF (LVL 80): 330
  • Base HP (LVL 80): 952
  • Effect : The wearer’s damage to the same target goes up by 8%-10% every time they hit it.12%/14%/16%, which can be used up to 5 times. When the person wearing it changes targets, the effect will start over.

Dan Heng usually doesn’t have a strong preference for whether or not he keeps his attention on the same object. But in general, he does better when he focuses on one thing, especially his boss. This is because he can slow down the enemy he’s aiming for, which increases his DPS. Because of his kit, he can do more damage to slow targets when he attacks them. Even though Swordplay might not be useful in every fight, it does help Dan Heng do more damage to the same object the more he hits it. This is especially helpful when fighting a boss instead of a long line of enemies, especially if a weaker enemy doesn’t have a taunt ability or another game mechanic that makes it necessary to hit a different target.

Only Silence Remains

Only Silence Remains
  • Base ATK (LVL 80): 476
  • Base DEF (LVL 80): 330
  • Base HP (LVL 80): 952
  • Effect : The wearer’s ATK goes up by 16%/20%/24%/28%/32%. If there are two or fewer enemies on the field, improves the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 12%/15%/18%/21%/24%.

Only Silence Remains is the better 4-star gacha light cone choice, even though its effectiveness depends on the fight itself. Its artwork features Dan Heng. When there are more than 2 enemies on the field, Only Silence Remains doesn’t work as well as it could. This is because Dan Heng won’t be able to use the light cone’s secondary affect, which raises his Critical Rate, to its full potential. Only Silence Remains, on the other hand, always gives an extra % ATK, which can be helpful in any material. So, even though Dan Heng can still benefit from this light cone, players should focus on getting rid of enemies first if they want to get the most out of it. To do this, players might want to use AoE DPS characters like Welt, who can also slow down targets, or Asta, who can target Dan Heng while using her Ultimate. Even so, it can still be hard to get the light cone’s secondary effect against enemies like Cocolia that constantly call more enemies.

Sleep Like the Dead

Sleep Like the Dead
  • Base ATK (LVL 80): 582
  • Base DEF (LVL 80): 463
  • Base HP (LVL 80): 1058
  • Effect : Adds 32%/40%/48%/56%/64% to the wearer’s CRIT DMG. When the wearer’s Basic ATK or Skill doesn’t result in a CRIT Hit, this item raises their CRIT Rate by 40%/45%/50%/55%/60% for 1 turn. This action can only happen once every three turns.

Sleep Like the Dead is a 5-star choice that makes critical hits more likely and boosts Dan Heng’s critical damage. If a player is lucky enough to get this light cone from a gacha, they can greatly improve Dan Heng’s DPS. But it’s not a good idea for players to use 600 Undying Starlight to buy this light cone from the shop, since there are better options for other ways. The 4-star gacha options or even Cruising in the Stellar Sea, especially when maxed out, can do the same job and save important resources at the same time.

Cruising in the Stellar Sea

Cruising in the Stellar Sea
  • Base ATK (LVL 80): 582
  • Base DEF (LVL 80): 463
  • Base HP (LVL 80): 1058
  • Effect : The wearer’s CRIT rate goes up by 8%/10%/12%/14%/16%, and their CRIT rate against enemies with less than or equal to 50% HP goes up by an extra 8%/10%/12%/14%/16%. When the user beats an enemy, their ATK goes up by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40% for the next 3 turns.

Cruising in the Stellar Sea is a 5-star free-to-play option, which makes it a great choice for players who want to push themselves by only using free-to-play options during their gameplay. This light cone can be earned by finishing Simulated Universe worlds and getting the weekly prizes. Players can easily buy it from Herta’s Store and level it up to its highest level in a few weeks. When the target’s HP is below 50%, Wordle Unlimited players can take advantage of Cruising in the Stellar Sea’s high chance to deal a critical hit. Dan Heng’s first eidolon is interesting. Because it gives him an extra Crit rate if the target’s HP is above 50%. This lets him keep a high Crit rate without having to focus as much on it with his relics. The last affect of the light cone can also be useful in situations where the enemies are weak. Since it helps Dan Heng do more damage on his next turn.

In The Night

In The Night
  • Base ATK (LVL 80): 582
  • Base DEF (LVL 80): 463
  • Base HP (LVL 80): 1058
  • Effect : Raises the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 18%/21%/24%/27%/30%. For every 10 SPD above 100, the wearer’s Basic ATK and Skill DMG go up by 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, or 10%. And the CRIT DMG of their Ultimate goes up by 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%, or 16%. You can get this result up to 6 times.

In the Night is a limited-time event light cone that is Seele’s signature light cone. It also works very well for Dan Heng because his Ultimate does a lot of damage and costs little energy. This lets him get the most out of the extra effect that the light cone gives him. Also, In the Night is much better when it focuses on the Speed stat and gives more Crit Rate. This can make Dan Heng very fast and let him hit multiple times in the same turn. Which is especially useful since he can slow enemies. Because of this, In the Night works well with Dan Heng.
